Rose Marie The Musical

Created by Jerry 7 years ago
In the late 1920’s, the 1930’s and even into the 1940’s there was a Broadway Musical called “Rose Marie”. There were many different versions of it, one of which was made into a musical movie in 1936, starring Jeanette Mac Donald as Rose Marie (a Canadian women) and Nelson Eddy ( a Canadian Mounted policeman). As most musicals goes, there were many songs, but two became very popular – Nelson Eddy’s love song called “Rose Marie’ and another song was the “Indian Love Call”.

Apparently, our folks liked the movie and went to see it many times. Our Mom and Dad selected Nelson as my middle name and later named their daughter Rose Marie!

Rose Marie Lyrics:

Rose Marie

Oh Rose Marie, my Rose Marie
Oh sweet Rose Marie, it’s easy to see
Why all who learns to know you, loves you
You’re gentle and kind, divinely designed
As graceful as the pines above you
There’s an angel breath beneath your sighs
There’s a little devil in your eye

Oh Rose Marie, I love you
I’m always dreaming of you
No matter what I do, I can’t forget you

Sometimes I wish that I’d never met you
And yet if I shall lose you
T’would mean my very life to me
Of all the queens that ever lived
I’d choose you, my Rose Marie

Of all the queens that ever lived
I’d choose you to rule me, my Rose Marie
Of all the queens that ever lived I’d choose you
Yes, I’d choose you to rule me my Rose Marie
